360 Feedback Tool

creating leadership awareness

CORE© - 360 Degree Feedback Tool

JS-International has developed a proprietary 360 degree feedback tool informed by years of working with thousands of leadership teams over the past 20 years.  This tool is based on our leadership philosophy that is called CORE© leadership.   Core stands for  Collaborate, Ownership, Respect and Engagement.

CORE© stands for
Collaborate
Ownership
Respect
Engagement

CORE© leadership is defined as the leader´s capacity to:

Create the conditions that foster faster and more effective collaboration by building strong horizontal as well as vertical relationships

Enhance trust within and between teams enabling diverse groups of people to work together

Use a business-wide lens, rather than a siloed team lens, creating a purposeful organisation that engages and motivates followers to success toward bigger goals

Walk the talk, engaging themselves and others in followership. We believe that wherever a leader is within an organisation they must also follow.

Giving 360 degree feedback helps individual leaders and leadership teams gain new perspectives and enables them to engage employees in a very practical way.  The process can also give information to the organisation about the collective leadership and their needs in relation to development activities.

Deploying the learnings and outcomes of CORE© have time and again proven successful in creating the conditions for higher people engagement. With an increased and more passionate engagement, people perform more effectively and willingly give their discretionary effort, which is key to achieving demanding business and organisational goals.

Why are core behaviours important now?

There has never been a greater need to Collaborate. As businesses strive to foster growth and innovation, are charged to make substantial investment, and at the same time cut-costs and have common standards, they will need to search for solutions to do this in an accelerated way. Incremental change is no longer acceptable. Rather than doing this alone, businesses may seek out joint ventures, conduct cross-industry projects, foster partnerships and enter fully into the spirit of “co-opetition”. Leaders who are skilled at collaboration will spur businesses to lead into the next normal.

The siren call for resilience has been made in many articles. However, this can only be part of the story. Leaders will need to be willing to learn, build teams, have the stamina to succeed and see initiatives from planning through to execution. End to end projects will be even more key to deliver business success meaning leaders will need to be willing to be accountable for more than they are responsible for. This is about Ownership.

Things are hard at work and at home. The expectation is to be available much more than in the past. Location is irrelevant, working from anywhere (WFA) is the “new norm”. The other 5G (five generations in the workforce) are still critical. Diversity matters. According to a recent article by Boston Consulting Group, businesses with more diverse leadership teams deliver larger profit margins. Leaders, therefore, need to be able to Respect and leverage generational and other differences, Respect boundaries and Respect and empathise with difficulties.

The current environment has caused a visible shift in values. “Does it matter” is the mantra of the day. People are re-examining what is important in their lives. For some, work as it was remains critical. These people may be compliant and readily engage in the strains of organisational life through necessity. For others, they may now need to be embraced by serving a wider and more meaningful purpose. Leaders who can Engage in potentially polarised circumstances and create conditions that encourage people to give their discretionary effort will be key in fostering businesses to succeed.

How does the process work?

JS-International contacts the individual leader or leadership teams to request the contact information of the people nominated by the leader to give feedback.

Our CORE© questionnaire is sent to the nominees directly by JS-International.   Once all the feedback has been received, JS-International provides a personal report for each leader and this report, detailing their feedback in graphic and written form and this report is accompanied by a Guide.  The focus for this Guide is to create practical support, “the how to,” for the leaders to help people work more effectively together, to improve business performance and fundamentally to improve quality of life and enjoyment of work.

As well as providing detailed feedback relating to the CORE© behaviours, the report also defines the extent to which the leader demonstrates “We-Q or Me-Q” behaviours:

High We-Q – defined as the optimum leadership mindset whereby the leader has a systemic lens, aligns with others, consider the business before their function and collaborates effectively.  This is “win/win”.

High Me-Q – defined as a driven leader who may get results at the expense of others.  The leader will have a strategic focus for the benefit of their part of the organisation.  This may be “I win, you lose”.

Low We-Q – defined as a well-intentioned leadership mindset whereby the leader has a people lens and strives for harmony, sometimes at the expense of results.  This may be “you win, I lose.”

Low Me-Q – defined as a leader who may not be able to align and is driven by results for their part of the organisation.  This may result in “you lose, I lose.”

We are able to provide a summary for each team and/or a collective analysis for all leaders who have a completed 360 analysis.  This gives a comprehensive view of development needs at a team or organisational level.
